If the anticipation for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was ever in question, look no further than this newest report from Gamesindustrybiz’s Christopher Dring. According to the post, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 shot to number 1 on the UK sales charts right off the bat, easily outdoing all of the other Xenoblade franchise titles in one fell swoop. Dring also provided a chart, both in his post and in a tweet, solidifying Xenoblade Chronicles 3‘s immediate ascension in the chart list. According to Dring, this means that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 had the biggest Xenoblade launch in UK history.
As you can see in the tweet above, the title stands above all other previous entries in the series thus far. This is an incredible achievement, especially since the game has only been out since last Friday, an entire five days. You might be surprised to see Xenosaga Episode 2 randomly in this list. This is because the previous entry, Xenosaga Episode 1, and the sequel Xenosaga Episode III, were never released in the UK. The original Xeno title in the entire franchise, Xenogears, was also never released in the region, and therefore not on this list.
Monolith’s JRPG, which has only been out for a few days and is already being critically acclaimed, was one of the most hyped releases for 2022. This was made more evident the title was pushed forward from its initial release time frame of September 2022 and was instead given a Summer release on July 29, a rarity in the video game industry. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was atop some heavy hitters that the UK chart sees regularly. This includes Horizon: Forbidden West, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Nintendo Switch Sports, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which is always on there.
