After blowing the minds of video game fans around the world, From Software is ready to unveil some more concrete information about Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon. Speaking to IGN, the developer stated that despite the recent success of the Soulsborne titles, they have no intention of making the next Armored Core title like them. Miyazaki stated that they had “not been making a conscious effort to try to direct Armored Core VI towards more Soulsborne-type gameplay.” In short, it appears that the developer is doing everything they can to ensure that this will be a true-to-form Armored Core experience.

As you can see in the tweet above, Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon will very much be a true Armored Core game, complete with the third-person mecha battles that the longtime fans have become accustomed to since it debuted. There’s also the famous, and infamous mecha customization system which historically had players infuriatingly attempt to correctly organize and attach the correct parts to whichever Armored Core they were playing with. Miyazaki also points out that this will not be a true open-world title, as in there will be sections where the game will have to load instead of being a more seamless experience.
The biggest aspect of the game, as is the case in other Armored Core titles, is the boss fights. According to Miyazaki, boss fights are a “highlight” and will require the player to learn their movements in order to take them down. “We are developing the game so that players can enjoy the dynamic and intense boss battles that only mechas can offer, along with the unique aspects of AC, such as how to assemble the right parts to take on the strongest enemies,” Miyazaki said.
This will be the first Armored Core title in more than a decade with the last entry being 2012’s Armored Core V. Around that same time, From Software began to gain some serious steam with their Soulsborne titles, two of which have gone on to win Game of the Year, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Elden Ring, with the latter winning the award just last week. Hopefully, we’ll hear some more about Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon soon, and the hourly release date will be made available in the foreseeable future.
