In a post on the game’s website, Rend‘s development team shared the news that the fantasy survival game would be entering Early Access on July 31. We got a look at Rend during E3 just a few weeks ago, and you can read about our experience with the game here. Essentially, it’s a 60-player game set in an Earth where survivors of Ragnarok roam. Players divide into three different factions, amassing power for their faction’s divinity stones and attempting to destroy the other factions’ stones. Rend is currently in its alpha stage, and this upcoming change marks another step forward in the game’s development.
“Early access marks a pivotal moment for Frostkeep Studios,” said Jeremy Wood, co-founder and CEO of Frostkeep Studios. “We have been developing Rend side-by-side with our players since we first announced the game and are grateful for the invaluable feedback they provided to help shape Rend into what it has become today: the game they want to play.”
In the meantime, Frostkeep Studios wrote that they’d be accelerating the speed with which testers are added to Rend‘s alpha in the coming weeks before Early Access launch. During that time, the studio intends to keep adding content and fixing bugs. “Our standard for entering Early Access is when Rend is in a state where even if we were to never update it again, it would be considered a complete game worthy of purchase by its players,” Frostkeep added in its FAQ. “We think Rend has reached this state. Rest assured, we will be updating Rend with PvP and PvE content well beyond Early Access.”
When the game does release via Steam on July 31, you’ll be able to pick it up for $30. There’s also still time to jump into Rend‘s alpha if you want to test the game before Early Access; players can sign up on the Rend website.
