Despite retiring from his potion as President of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime hasn’t really slowed down in terms of being active in the gaming community. Since leaving his post last year, Reggie has joined the Board of Directors at the New York Video Game Critics Circle, accepted the Walter Day Lifetime Achievement Award, joined Cornwall University as a Leader in Residence, and even joined Gamestop as one of its new Board of Directors. Now he’s added yet another new venture to his already impressive resume, as both he and Rogue Games have announced that Reggie has joined the company as a strategic advisor for their Board of Directors.

In an interview with VentureBeat, Reggie stated that since he’s retired from Nintendo, he’s been able to branch out and try new things such as joining Rogue Games. “The benefit of being retired is that I get to work with people I like and companies that I feel are doing unique and valuable things,” Reggie said. ” Meanwhile, despite being relatively new to the scene, Rogue has already emerged as one of the leaders in the growing “Netflix of Games” subscription option announced by Apple, Google, and others. So all of this is very exciting to me. And I think my experience and relationships are very attractive to Rogue as it expands its portfolio to include more traditional gaming platforms.”
Reggie joins a company that is fairly new when it comes to modern console gaming. Rogue Games, which is based in Los Angeles, is mostly known for being a publisher for both mobile and PC indie games. Their biggest hits include Oz: Broken Kingdom, Sociable Soccer, Wild Life: Puzzle Story, Hexaflip: The Action Puzzler, and Super Impossible Road. The company has really made a name for themselves within the Apple Arcade community, but now it looks like they’re looking to break out into the home console market, hence the reason they brought in Reggie.
If anyone is qualified for a position such as this, it’s definitely Reggie as he has proved countless times how much of an asset he’s been to Nintendo and the gaming community in general. The man has gone through multiple lifetimes while heading Nintendo of America and has helped oversee many console launches in the region. Our first real look at Reggie was during Nintendo’s E3 2004 presentation when he walked on stage and uttered these immortal words: “My name is Reggie. I’m about kicking’ ass, I’m about taking’ names, and we’re about making’ games.”
His charisma was noticeable from the start, and from that point on he was the face of Nintendo in North America. His most famous line however is the one he said during Nintendo’s E3 2007 conference when announcing the Wii Balance Board: “My body is ready.” This alone has generated millions of online memes and countless internet jokes but also contributed to the amazing personality of Reggie. Now Reggie, and that sweet personality of his, will be assisting Rogue Games when they attempt to make the jump to another platform.
