It’s no surprise that newer video games require more memory and file space on whatever platform you’re playing on. With all of the advancements the industry has made, especially in terms of stunning visuals, it makes sense for today’s video games to require more storage. Then there are games that go beyond the threshold, such as Red Dead Redemption 2. Discovered by rockstarintel.com, after observing the leaked images of the Red Dead Redemption 2 PS4 Pro Bundle Box, the game’s file size will require a gargantuan amount of memory, to the tidy sum of 105gb. It’s important to note that this was observed for the PlayStation 4 bundle, and is not associated with the Xbox One. However, it’s more than likely to have a similar amount for the other platform.
While this is not the largest game to come with a huge demand for memory, looking at you Final Fantasy XV for PC (155gb), it’s still a wake up call for console gamers. Original PS4 owners will find this especially taxing on their system, as it is capped at 500 gb, meaning the game will take up more than quarter of its storage alone. In addition, those who plan to download the game directly from the PSN servers are in for a long wait time before they start playing the game. Rockstar Games has yet to comment on the file size, but they will have to address it sooner than later as we approach the release date.
Along with this information, we also learned more about the game itself. The online multiplayer mode for the game, Red Dead Online, will have a beta that is planned for November, and will support up to 32 players. The box also states that the PS4 will be receiving DLC first, calling it “exclusive timed content” which refers to having said content 30 days before anyone else along with “online content.”
All eyes are on Red Dead Redemption 2 as we creep closer into the holiday season. The game has already built an insane amount of hype surrounding its features and content, such as the living, breathing wildlife they showed off couple of days ago. Just a friendly reminder for everyone, make sure you have plenty of room on the hardrive ready.
Red Dead Redemption 2 launches on October 26 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
