The company behind the Red Dead series, Rockstar, is bringing some new content to the online section in their latest entry in the series, Red Dead Redemption 2. The update will be added on September 10th, and will include a number of events, items, gameplay adjustments as well as unique roles that players can don known as Frontier Pursuits. According to Gamespot, these Frontier Pursuits are essentially jobs that players can take on while exploring the game.
There are currently three known roles, each with their own unique requirements. The Bounty Hunter pursuit has players hunting down criminals. The Trader pursuit allows players to open up their own store and sell various items such as pelts and meats, and the Collector pursuit focuses on players hunting for treasures. Rockstar games has stated that the Frontier Pursuits are “an ongoing series of Roles for players to inhabit, delivering a wide array of themed activities that each offer unique items, skills and more as you progress through each role.” The new feature will also encourage players to continue to follow these pursuits with a Role XP system as well as new ranks available to players who progress far enough in their roles. Players who hone their pursuits will also receive Role tokens, which can be redeemed for specific abilities, as well as unlocking role-specific free roam events.
The update will also include other modifications to previous mechanics within the game. The new update will include additional slots in the stable for horses as well as the ability to modify character appearance without restarting your progress. Another new feature that the update will add to the multiplayer scene is modifying its PvP to “reduce reliance on headshots as the primary kill method in PvP.” The new update goes live on September 10th, 2019 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
