Red Dead Online Leaves Beta Period & Gets A Large Content Update

Today, a new update for Red Dead Online was released. It brings a lot of new gameplay. Rockstar Games also announced that the game has left its beta period and shares how they plan to support Red Dead Online in the future.

Rockstar said “a massive thank you to everyone who participated during the beta period. Your feedback has been instrumental in helping us fine tune the game so far with many of your suggestions implemented in today’s update, and we will continue to implement more of your feedback in future updates to come”.

The gameplay coming to Red Dead Online includes cooperative story missions, free roam activities and the addition of Poker alongside a range of updates and improvements that strengthen and stabilize the foundational world of Red Dead Online.

The cooperative missions coming to the game today continues the revenge saga of Jessica LeClerk. It picks up from the story missions that launched when Red Dead Online started. Players will help Mrs. LeClerk get closer to the truth behind the murder of her husband. There are also missions for honorable and dishonorable players. The honorable missions have players battle the Del Lobos gang and help Marshall Tom Davies save the town of Valentine. The dishonorable missions have players outwitting lawmen to assist Samson Finch in highway robbery which leads to a daring high-stakes theft at the Saint-Denis Bank.

Free Roam Missions are getting expanded with characters from the story of Red Dead Redemption 2 and a variety of new and diverse mission types. You can bring your Posse to meet with Thomas the Skiff Captain down in Bayou Nwa or visit the disconcertingly hospitable Aberdeen Pig Farmers to get your hands extremely dirty. More story characters will appear soon.

Dynamic Events are also available today. Similar to the story of Red Dead Redemption 2, there may be townsfolk and travelers in need of assistance, or opportunists looking to prey on lone riders. These will offer XP, Honor, Cash, and Gold.

New Posse Versus Challenges are now available as well. The three new challenges include Biggest Fish Contest, Bird Shooting Contest, and Herb Picking Contest. A new mode is available too. Overrun Showdown Mode has players trying to mark territory and lay claim to as much land as you can, working your way behind enemy lines to capture territory from your opponents while defending what’s yours. Whoever holds the most land at the end wins.

One of the bigger things coming in this new update is Playing Styles which allows players to choose how to interact with players inside the world of Red Dead Online. There are Offensive and Defensive Playing Styles. The Offensive Style is the default and it means players are free to engage in hostile contact with other players. The Defensive Style is for players who would rather explore the world in Free Roam than engage in conflict with others. It’s designed to let other players know that you don’t want to engage with them.

Regarding the future, Rockstar Games said “this is just the beginning. The future of Red Dead Online not only includes continued improvements to the core elements of the world to make every aspect of the game fun for all kinds of players but also brand-new experiences that establish a deeper, more immersive connection to the world and your character.”

Coming this Summer to Red Dead Online are roles. Three will be available in the Summer. Each new role will come with a range of unique gameplay along with a host of new outfits, weapons and other rewards to earn. You can track down wanted criminals as a bounty hunter; search the world for treasure, and other exotic items to sell as a collector, or build a business at camp as a trader and more.
