Publisher Outright Games has just announced that Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova will be released soon, with no further details. It will be available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PS4/PS5, based on the Paramount+ and Nickelodeon television series. This is the first Star Trek game targeted toward a younger demographic based on the kid-friendly show. This announcement follows the previous day’s leak which was revealed by a banner advertising the game at the Star Trek: Mission Chicago event. According to the banner, fans can tune into developer Tessera Studio’s Youtube Channel in May to learn more.
There is currently no trailer for the game except for a few pieces of key art. According to tweets from both studios, it is confirmed that characters Gwyndala, Dal R’El, and Kathryn Janeway will be a part of the game, but there is no word on whether Kate Mulgrew, Ella Purnell or any other characters will return in the sequel. This one will likely stick to characters in the show it’s based off of, but Star Trek games in the past like Star Trek Bridge Crew had used brand new characters.

Tessera Studios is a Spanish indie game studio that released a horror VR game Intruders: Hide and Seek in 2019. While Tessera’s first game was rated M for mature, Supernova will be family-friendly considering that Outright Games is well-known for putting out a wide variety of children’s games including My Friend Peppa Pig and a number of Paw Patrol Games.
The Star Trek franchise is widely adored in both the TV and gaming worlds. Such as with Star Wars creating content for fans of all ages, Supernova will finally introduce young children to Star Trek. Supernova will be the second most recent game in the beloved franchise to be announced after the narrative Star Trek: Resurgence game was announced in December of 2021. Resurgence will tell a story of its own, but capture the spirit of The Next Generation, which is safe for kids 10+. Its release date was not specific beyond coming in “early 2022.”
