Ubisoft’s highly successful and beloved Rainbow Six Siege is gearing up for its next season, Operation Deep Freeze. This is a grand achievement as this upcoming season will conclude the year eight roadmap of the game, with its 29th season and most likely many more. As usual, players can expect a new operator, this time a defender as last season’s operator, Ram, was an attacker. This season seems to be jam-packed with a plethora of new content including a completely new map, new game modes, balance changes, and new lore tidbits. Ubisoft is seemingly going all out to celebrate the end of year 8.
There’s been much speculation as to what the new Operator will be but with the images we’ve seen of the new map and name of said map many players are speculating that this season’s new operator will be the imposing Deimos. A figure that has been appearing in the game’s cinematics and lore drops for the past two years. The new map is called, Lair, presumably Deimos’s, and in the short teaser trailer were told that mastering verticality will be the key to understanding the new map.
As for overall game health, the devs are promising new additions to the game. Such as a new AI playlist for new players to hop into actual Siege games but with AI players. These AI counterparts have been fed real player information in order to simulate how an authentic Rainbow Six Siege game will play out with live players. Another major change is a shield rework improvement, with the rumored idea that many more attacking operators will be able to use riot shields apart from the three already in the game. Those operators being Fuze, Blitz, and Montagne. Attacking Operator Maverick is also rumored to be getting a slight torch buff.
Operation Deep Freeze will be fully released sometime in early December, but players can catch the first to look to all the information above and many more this Sunday, November 12th.
