Rainbow Six Siege Year Seven Will Bring A New Operator, Map, and Game Mode

Rainbow Six Siege is set to release Season One of Year Seven on March 8th, 2022. The newest season is going to be called Demon Veil and will bring along some important changes. The season will feature a new operator to go with a map and even a brand new game mode.

Defender Kana “Azami” Fujiwara will be joining Rainbow Six Siege in the coming season as the newest Operator. Azami will be available to play on the Defender’s roster and is expected to bring major changes to the gameplay. When discussing the benefits of using Azami, game designer Dominic Clement said “Azami is a total gamechanger, literally.”

Azami features skills that allow her to defend from the vertical play of enemies. Azami’s character is equipped with a  9X19SVN SMG, ACS12 Shotgun, D-50 Handgun, Impact Grenades, Barbed Wire, and even a Kiba Barrier. A Kiba Barrier begins as a gas before solidifying at any spot on the map and becoming completely bulletproof. The Kiba Barrier will be accompanied by Azami’s wrist sheath that can hold the chemicals before they turn into a solid. The addition of the Barrier will allow defenders to protect themselves from any attacks that are coming from above. As a result, defenders are able to fight off these attacks for the first time rather than having to run for cover as they begin.

In addition to the addition of a new operator comes a new map as well. The new map is going to be called Emerald Plains and is the first map the game has added in three years. It will be set in Ireland at an old estate that has now been turned into a country club for the world’s elite class. The map was designed with the intent of learning for the players to create a seamless transition. Although the map will not be released until mid-season, players are eager to explore and look into the newest location.

Finally, the upcoming season will also feature a new game mode. Team Deathmatch is a similar game mode to other multiplayer shooter games and is meant to be a fast-paced game mode. The game will have no restrictions on loadouts or operators but the gadgets that come along will not be available for players to use. The new Team Deathmatch game mode is likely to be best used as a mode to play with friends or as a warmup for more competitive play.
