Ubisoft has announced that Rainbow Six Siege will be receiving the Operation Skull Rain update next week. The update will include two new playable characters along with a brand new map all set in the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The update will also feature new updates to the overall gameplay including a new custom game mode, Tactical Realism.
The first new character Caviera is a defensive operator who receives the “Silent Step” perk enabling her to sneak up on players. She comes with a M12 and a SPAS-15 for primary weapons, a PBR92 for her secondary, and nitro cell C4 and barbed wire for her gadgets.
Capitao will be the second operator focused being an attacker. He comes with a tactical crossbow that fires asphyxiating bolts and micro smoke grenades. For his primary weapons he carries a M-249 and PARA-308. As for secondary and gadgets he is equipped with the PBR92 along with frag grenades and stun grenades.
The new map will be set in a Brazilian favela and will support exterior shell destruction, making it Rainbow Six Siege’s most destructible map to date. The new map will be free to play by all players.
Along with some new elements, the most prominent would be the inclusion of the game mode Tactical Realism. The new mode attempts to make the game as real as possible by limiting what players have at their disposal. Players will not be able to mark enemies and will only see the timer, compass, gadget, and weapon panels on their HUD. there will also be no kill conformation or ammo counter. In the Ubisoft blog they state that, “the idea is to push players to rely even more on their teammates and communication for information on enemy locations and kill counts.”
There will also be a new angled grip attachment and a surrender system. The new angled grip will enable players to switch between hip fire and ADS much quicker. While the surrender system allows teams to give up in ranked modes by a majority vote. The surrender must come before the third round.
Rainbow Six Siege will be receiving its new update on August 2nd.
