Developer Ubisoft has published the patch notes for the newest update for Rainbow Six: Siege, bringing the much-awaited Mid-Season Reinforcement changes for the Velvet Shell season.
Foremost among the changes is the rework of Glaz, the sniper operator of Rainbow Six: Siege. Glaz’s gadget will now give thermal visual feedback on targets when looking through his scope, making targets much easier to see, even through smoke grenades and airborne debris. You can see this feature in action in a short gameplay video posted by Ubisoft, shown below.
Also new in this update is the new “Maquis” set for Twitch, one of the game’s French operators. The Maquis is the newest of Rainbow Six: Siege‘s Elite Sets, full cosmetic overhauls for specific operators that give the character all new uniforms, charms, cards, titles, and a new signature victory animation. Since Twitch’s signature gadget is her offensive shock drone, those receive a new design with the Maquis set as well.
Last among the update’s big changes is the introduction of a new “Health Program” for Rainbow Six: Siege. The program will come in the form of a new test server, which will roll out new technical systems before they come out in the main game, allowing them to be tested more rigorously before implementation and hopefully cutting down on the number of new bugs added to the game with each update.
The update also brings a number of small changes to various operators and weapons; we see slight buffs for Doc, Buck, Echo, Thermite, Caveira, Capitao, and Blitz, a small nerf to Jackal, and improvements to gun sight reticles and shields. You can check out the full patch notes here.
The mid-season reinforcements will be deployed into Rainbow Six: Siege on all platforms tomorrow, March 15.
