Rainbow Six: Siege Hits 20 Million Registered Players

The UbiBlog shared a new post today celebrating that Rainbow Six: Siege had recently hit a new milestone in its playerbase, with over 20 million unique registered players.  The game has also been seeing an average of over 2.3 million players playing each day in recent weeks.  The post shared the below image in celebration of the game’s feat, and its continued success.

Rainbow Six: Siege was first released in December of 2015, meaning the game is rapidly approaching its 2nd birthday.  The game saw the standard drop-off in players after an initial boom at launch, as most every AAA game does, but then saw a resurgence in players after about a year of retail release, re-invigorating the game’s community and bringing renewed attention to the title.

On the new 20 million milestone, Product Director Nicolas Lefebvre said “Our community is growing and so is our ambition to make Siege a shooter that is here to stay…the next few weeks are very exciting as it marks the culmination of Operation Health and the release of our next season set in Hong Kong.”

Operation Health is the currently ongoing initiative within Rainbow Six: Siege, focused on repairing technical issues and glitches in the game and promoting overall gameplay quality, prioritized over the release of new content.  With the shuffle to the game’s seasonal schedule that came as a result of the late introduction of Operation Health, next season will see not only the addition of new Hong Kong operators, weapons, and environments, but also additional Polish GROM operators and weapons, taken from the originally-planned Poland season.

Rainbow Six: Siege is available for play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC through UPlay.
