Game Pass is a subscription model employed by Microsoft that offers hundreds of PC and Xbox games for a flat fee of $15, which is bundled together with Xbox Gold. The service has been a large success, with adding all of Microsoft’s exclusives from Halo to The Outer Worlds and Grounded on the service for free. The service has also offered a larger array of indie games and older Triple-A games such as the Metro series. Microsoft may be hinting at a new addition to Game Pass. That new addition is the tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege. Siege was released five years ago and has completely revitalized the tactical shooter genre that has fallen out of favor and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 along with the deviation of the source style with the Ghost Recon series of games as well.

The hint was given away largely by six rainbows floating over a castle under siege, under assault by ladders and trebuchets. The addition to Game Pass is also following a rework of Tachanka, a playable character from the beginning of the game’s life cycle, who was distinguishable by having a stationary machine gun. Tachanka has fallen out of favor for more mobile characters almost immediately, leaving him dead early on. Being the least picked character, the team has decided to change his style to make him more favorable. Now Tachanka uses his heavy machine as his primary weapon, making him have the highest destruction capacity outside of limited explosives and is mobile again. He is notable for using a flame grenade launcher that will be acting as a tool for area denial.
The Tachanka rework is hot out of beta testing and will be a great addition for all the new players joining the game for free on Game Pass, as he will be one of the earliest available to unlock.
