Ubisoft Montreal continues their infamous streak of having some of the worst player to developer communication in recent memory. Rainbow Six Siege is finishing up its 8th year cycle heading into year 9. This season titled, Operation Deep Freeze, was already rocky with its announcement in terms of player reception. Many of the changes coming to the game this season had players voicing their disgust with how the game has been handled in the past couple of years. Specifically the past months with many long-time players calling out Ubisoft for catering to new players who might not even want to stay long. Well, even more demoralizing news dropped today, in that is that the new season has been delayed indefinitely. To make matters even worse, the new season was supposed to drop today with the news of the delay coming minutes before the season was meant to begin.
This follows on last season’s disastrous launch where servers were not accessible for over a week and Ubisoft continued with their lack of communication towards players. It took hours for Ubisoft’s support page on Twitter to even give a mention of server issues while Rainbow Six Siege‘s account sent maybe two tweets in the week servers were down. Even hardcore siege players and content creators are beginning to really lose faith in the title with major creators who have relied on the title for years leaning into variety streaming and going to other games.
To add even more insult to injury, Dead By Daylight just had a collaboration with Rainbow Six Siege in which three operators appear in Dead By Daylight as skins. One of the three characters being the new operator Tubarao, who was meant to launch in today’s season. So that means that Tubarao launched first in a horror game, and not in its original title. Hilarious.
