Rage 2 Gameplay Trailer Drops, Reveals New Combat Mechanics, Will be Co-Developed by Avalanche Studios

Rage 2 has been a huge talking point lately, and with the official announcement trailer for the game releasing just yesterday, it only took a short amount of time for more information to come forward. Early this morning, the official gameplay trailer was released.

One thing that many will notice straight away is the difference in gameplay from the original Rage. It seems as if id Software has taken a few pages from their most recent release of DOOM, and the combat also looks as if it has taken some inspiration from Bulletstorm as well. The combat is a lot more mobile this time around, and murdering your foes seems to have a more creative, fast-paced, fun approach.

In addition, there seems to be a bigger emphasis on vehicular combat in an open world setting. This is most likely due to the game also being co-developed by Avalanche Studios, the studio most known for its recent release of Mad Max.

Mad Max was met with mostly positive reviews initially, with its strongest point being the vehicle customization and combat. Although not much is shown in the trailer regarding how players will be able to customize their vehicles for combat, we can assume that it will be just as action-packed as Mad Max but improved. With the combination of an open world, DOOM and Bulletstorm-esque combat, and Mad Max styles of vehicle combat, Rage 2 is already shaping up to be a vast change and improvement from the original title.

Rage 2 does not have a release date, but it has been confirmed that it will release onto the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Stay tuned for Bethesda’s E3 press conference, for it will most likely show up there with more information. Until then, you can read up bit more on the upcoming apocalyptic title on Bethesda’s website.
