Punch Upon Time is a party fighter game that is team-based and has taken inspiration from Smash Bros fighting style. There are twelve heroes or villains available on the roster; all figures from fairy tales and legends. A few characters included are: King Arthur, the Black Knight, Red Riding Hood, Dracula, Captain Hook, and many more iconic figures.
The main gameplay is known as the “Squad Saga,” where the players compete against three opposing squads. They can queue in solo or pair up with their friends, working together to win various rounds to be the last sky galleon standing. Each round randomly selects a game mode and players must defeat their opponents in these rounds to damage their opponent’s ships.
There are over 40 unique modes that can be selected for the Squad Saga. These mini games can range from basketball, red-light green-light, volleyball, and a long live the king mode. The massive variety available increases the chances that players will not experience the same type of Squad Sage over and over. Players can queue in for a match knowing that each mode will test their skills in different mini game settings.
Supersaurus, the developers of the game, stated earlier today that Punch Upon a Time has officially released for Early Access. The base price of the game is $19.99 and is currently 25% off until November 2, 2026. Those interested in the game should check out the Steam store page and test out their skills in the mini games.
The developers plan on adding a 13th character to the roster along with new modes and stages, but more about this mystery character will be revealed in the future. It is clear the developers have a thought out plan for Punch Upon a Time. More content and features will be added as they further polish the game. Supersaurus is also working on creating a console version, adding local play support, and fix any bugs players may come across.
