PUBG Creator Working On Special Project

PlayerUnknown’s Battleground’s, the widely popular battle royale title, has been out for a couple years now. Since its initial release, it has had some major success on multiple platforms, ranking high in concurrent users and has been one of the front runners for the battle royale genre alongside Fortnite.

As much success as the title has had there has now been an unexpected development at the core of the game’s development team. Brendan Greene, the game’s creator and lead designer, announced that he will be parting ways from day to day operations for PUBG in order to focus on “special projects.” The announcement was made by way of a letter to Twitter where Greene stated that he will now serve a creative role on PUBG.

“While I’ll remain as a consulting creative director on PUBG, development will be led by Taeseok Jang and the fantastic team I have had the honor of working with over the past three years,” the statement reads. “They have some great things planned for this year, and I can’t wait to share more with you soon!”

There were no specifics as to what the PUBG development team has in store for the series but this is promising news to have fans excited while announcing the change in management. He also added that he will now be based in Amsterdam and will be focusing on building a whole new division that will be “exploring, experimenting, and creating new technologies, tools, pipelines, and gameplay.”

With this tidbit of information it’s hard to tell if the new division Greene is spearheading will be doing research to add onto PUBG or into a new project all together.  Whatever the case may be we look forward to hearing about any new developments on the matter if and when they arise.
