PUBG 1.0 Patch Features New Mechanics and Map

Following nine months in Steam’s Early Access, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, one of the most prolific games of the year, has been officially released as of yesterday. With the game now including various features that have been meticulously play-tested by players for weeks, multiple new additions have been included in last nights’ 1.0 patch update. These additions include a brand new map, the ability to climb or vault, and newly realized vehicle physics.

While maps will still be randomly selected when a match begins, the newly introduced map, Miramar, will temporarily contain a higher chance of being selected following the new patch. The map contains only two weather types, clear and sunrise, while opting to go against the rainy and foggy weather seen present within the Erangel map. Miramar is structured to encourage tactical battles which force players to utilize the cover and concealment scattered throughout. This map also differentiates off-road driving from on-road, urging players to become familiar with the vehicular difference. The driving physics have been updated to appear more realistic, and passengers can newly bandage and boost themselves while inside a vehicle.

In lieu of stepping away from Early Access and beginning a new season, players can also look forward to a freshly wiped leaderboard, encouraging an equal playing field.

With new mechanics, maps, and the incentive to rise a fresh leaderboard, the full release of PUBG has provided a litany of exciting prospects for players. As of today, the servers are running the 1.0 patch with no hiccups, following several hours of maintenance.
