Sales data from the Playstation 4’s midnight launch Friday night shows that the new console sold 1 million units in 24 hours, according to a tweet from Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida.
PS4 has sold through over 1 million units within 24 hours of the launch in North America!!! 😀

For comparison, the Playstation 3 took two weeks to sell one fifth of that amount, the Xbox 360 took over a month to sell its first million, and the Wii sold 600,000 consoles in its first eight days.
With the PS4 seeming like such a massive success, things look a bit grim for the Xbox One’s launch next Friday, November 22. Since the two consoles aim for similar demographics, the Xbox One may find many of its potential customers already served.
