Digital Foundry was shown what is considered to be an accurate document showcasing how the PS4’s memory will be allocated.
According to the document, 3.5GB of the consoles 8GB of memory will be reserved strictly for the systems OS, leaving 4.5GB for game developers to work with.
However, additional sources of Digital Foundry suggested that 1GB will be “flexible memory” meaning developers will have potentially 5.5GB of memory to work with. In comparison, Xbox One allocate 3GB of memory to its OS.
The PS4 and Xbox One ship this fall.
