As part of Bungie’s GamesCom announcements, Destiny‘s final DLC expansion Rise Of Iron will have some exclusive content for PS4 players.
According to Justin on the PlayStation Blog, PS4 players will be treated to a new quest line, a ship, and a PvP map. The quest is called “Show of Strength”, and not much is known about what the quest will entail, but a quote from Tyra Karn -a new NPC that sells artifacts according to Game Informer- gives some clues.
While you serve the Vanguard in the Plaguelands, I wonder if you’d be so kind as to help me understand the more brutal aspects of the Devil Splicers’ brand of worship.
The reward for completing the quest is a shiny new spaceship called Timeless Tereshkova and it’s clear that the ship has a long history.
You are but the most recent entry in Cosmodrome’s long and legendary history.
As for the PvP map, it’s a mid-sized map called Icarus. The map itself is located in the Languid Sea on Mercury. Icarus is compatible with all 6v6 game modes, and maybe this is just me, but the map sounds a lot like a Pokeball. In the post, it says that it has a circular perimeter that mixes close quarters combat and long distance shooting. There is also a dangerous path with closing doors that provides a quick way through the center of the map. The map has a bit of lore to it as well.
This Golden Age solar farm on Mercury has remained un-touched by the Vex for reasons unknown. The Vanguard has denied petitions from various weapon foundries to research it until the Warlock orders have finished their surveys first. An exemption has been granted to Lord Shaxx and his Crucible: the Guardians are free to utilize Icarus as a live-fire training zone.
Rise of Iron is set to launch on September 30th for PS4 and Xbox One. Players can pick up the expansion digitally or through the just-announced Destiny: The Collection. The collection includes all DLC expansions that have been released thus far, including Rise of Iron. The post also mentions that players who own Destiny: The Taken King on PS3 and upgrade to the PS4 can get Destiny: The Collection for $40 if they buy it digitally. No word on if Xbox 360 owners can get the same deal.
