Team Dakota and Microsoft has announced that the much awaited Project Spark Beta is now live for everyone with an Xbox One and Windows 8.1, even those without Gold subscriptions. Now everyone with the Xbox One can enjoy making a game, and it seems as if these game projects are going to be amazing. You will no longer need to have a beta code to start creating games.
Search for Project Spark in the Xbox One store and install the game to get going. Once it’s installed, simply launch the game.
The Beta has been in a closed beta for Xbox One for only a couple of weeks and for Windows 8.1 since last December. This game creation tool can also be worked across the Xbox 360, not only the Xbox One and PC. Meaning those who created the game on Windows 8.1 PCs can be played on the Xbox One, and vice versa. Though if your are a Xbox 360 user, you won’t get access to the beta until the full release which is going to happen later this year.
The video montage shown above, shows several video games created during the closed beta. It shows creations that include 2D, 2.5D and 3D, which also you can see things like original games or look-a-likes, like minecraft or tower defense. The game uses visual coding language that allows users to create individual objects and characters to have its own “mind”. One can only imagine what creations can be created from the community.
This is a fresh step not only in gaming but learning how to create games as well. The guides are available on the official site and also on YouTube. You can focus on the world and item building or simply enjoy trying out other people’s creations, even if coding isn’t your type of thing.
You can go into the Project Spark marketplace to purchase the different themes, tile sets and textures released by Team Dakota. Some may include crafting and populating the game world with hills, forest, rivers, dungeons and more. In order to get these items, you can either purchase with real money or coins you have earned from exploring, building, playing and sharing in the game.
