Yesterday during QuakeCon, Bethesda gave fans a look at the upcoming Prey reboot/re-imagining with a new gameplay trailer.
The brief trailer is narrated by the male version of the game’s protagonist, Morgan Yu, as he talks about his experiences on Talos 1. It then cuts from a swanky, sunny apartment, similar to the one we saw in the reveal trailer to a space station. The station is reminiscent of the USG Ishimura from Dead Space and Sevastopol Station from Alien: Isolation.
We also get a look at some of the aliens that inhabit the station. Not much is known about them aside from their ability to transform into mundane objects like tables and chairs, which should make for some fun jump scare moments.
Combat looks like your typical FPS affair the player is given various guns and gadgets to fight off the enemies. While that may not sound too exciting, Bethesda promises that there will be more to it.
Back when the game was announced at E3 this year, we were given very little info aside from a cinematic trailer. It wasn’t until later, on July 27th to be precise, that we were given any new info on the game. In a video titled “What is Prey?”, Bethesda gave us a few details about the combat. Aside from the usual suite of guns and whatnot players will also have access to alien powers. What exactly those powers will be are still a mystery. The game won’t be exclusively shooting either, it will also have narrative choices according to Raphael Colantonio, the game’s director.
If you like Arkane games, those games that blend narratives and simulation and some choices and a lot of player exploration, Prey is going to be that game for you.
Prey is still slated for a 2017 release for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
