Pre-Alpha Gameplay Of Call Of Duty 2020 Apparently Leaks

Call of Duty went back to its roots last year with Modern Warfare, and it seems that in like of the game’s massive success, this will become a trend.  Though the division of Call of Duty into the Black Ops and Modern Warfare franchises is clearly defined, it seems that Treyarch is following in Infinity Ward’s footsteps, and will be releasing a historic Black Ops game this year.  Since Black Ops 1, Treyarch has pushed the franchise into the future, but it seems that this yer we will be going back into the past with the fifth game in the franchise apparently being named Black Ops Cold War.

Recently, low quality pre-alpha footage of the upcoming game apparently leaked on Reddit, and and the guns in it seem to lend validity to this setting, as the sights in particular seem to resemble those of the first game in the franchise.  It also seems to bear similarities to Modern Warfare in terms of interaction with cover as well as the mini-map.

This isn’t the first time that someone has leaked footage for a new game, and there isn’t even proof that this is legitimate, but Activision is scrambling to eradicate the footage from the internet.  Also, though the leaked footage is only a few minutes long, insiders apparently claimed to have seen a 45 minute cut of the gameplay, and confirm that there is no sliding mechanic at the moment, and that the map in the footage is called “Tanks” though that could just be a placeholder name.

Activision hunting down the footage actually adds to the validity of the footage, because it likely would not have received as much attention otherwise.  Also, this is a similar course of action that they took earlier this year when art from Warzone leaked.

There is no word on when this game will be released, but assuming that they will aim for a fall release, expected to hear something from Treyarch in the near future.
