With the end of the video game voice actors union’s strike, Life is Strange‘s two main performers have been able to reprise their roles. The prequel game – Life is Strange: Before the Storm – has been rolling out in a trilogy of episodes since the end of August, with the final episode yet to come.
Square Enix has now announced that Before the Storm will be getting an additional special episode, aptly called “Farewell,” in which the original actress who played Chloe Price (Ashly Burch) will once again voice Chloe. During the strike, actress Rhianna DeVries played Chloe; Square Enix is “forever thankful” for her work, and she’ll be doing Chloe’s motion capture for “Farewell.” Hannah Telle, the actress for Max Caulfield, will also be resuming her role in the farewell episode, which may well be Chloe and Max’s final adventure together. Square Enix released a behind-the-scenes video alongside the farewell episode’s announcement, featuring Telle and Burch in the studio.
Although Burch hasn’t been able to voice Chloe during the rest of Before the Storm due to the strike, she’s been consulting on the writing for developer Deck Nine as a specialist on Chloe’s characterization. SAG-AFTRA reached a settlement with several major gaming publishers for fair salaries and greater transparency for video game work in early November, after nearly two years of negotiations.
“Farewell” will be released in early 2018. Life is Strange: Before the Storm is available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
