Post-Apocalyptic ATOM RPG Leaves Early Access

The post-apocalyptic ATOM RPG is set to leave Early Access on Steam December 19, according to a post by developer Atom Team on Steam yesterday. The game, set in the Soviet Union circa 1986, is inspired by classic RPGs such as Fallout, Wasteland, System Shock and more. Players will assume the role of one of the few survivors of a nuclear holocaust, with the goal of solving a mysterious conspiracy to eradicate what remains of life on Earth (in addition to just staying alive).

The game, which launched Kickstarter in April 2017 (and succeeded in raising more than double their initial goal of $15,000), has been in the works since 2008. ATOM RPG was released on Steam Early Access on November 28, 2017, and has finally taken the necessary steps to bring a full release to the public. Reviews of the game on Steam are “Very Positive” and recent reviews have been “Overwhelmingly Positive,” making the game’s full release that much more anticipated.

The developers have also announced upcoming changes to the game along with the full release. An entirely new map, called Dead City, will be making its debut. The city will be crawling with mutants to face off against, and developers said that they love the way it turned out so much, they plan to expand the city in future updates. Along with Dead City, developers have added player-owned cars, new NPCs and quests, new dungeons, and even a cinematic showing players how they have impacted the Wasteland.

ATOM RPG is available in full on Steam December 19 (on macOS and Windows), but those looking to jump in now can still get it in Early Access for $14.99. As an added bonus, players who have played the game while in Early Access will receive a bonus “veteran’s kit” upon full release. You can check out the official trailer below.
