God of War Ragnarok is one of the most anticipated games coming out in the next couple of years. Picking up after the events of God of War (2018), Kratos and Atreus must venture deep into the Nine Realms in search of answers as Asgardian forces prepare for war. Along the way, they will explore stunning, mythical landscapes, gather allies from across the realms and face fearsome enemies in the form of Norse gods and monsters. As the threat of Ragnarok grows ever closer, Kratos and Atreus find themselves choosing between the safety of their family and the safety of the realms. Ever since it’s initial reveal, many have been wondering when we’ll get the chance to play the game. According to a recent PSN database update, a possible release date may have been revealed.

According to PlayStation Game Size, the PlayStation Database has a release date of September 30, 2022. Nothing official has been announced yet, and as PlayStation Game Size notes, it could just be a placeholder. There was a possibility that the game could’ve been released sometime this year, but it was announced in June that the game will be released in 2022. Sony Santa Monica confirmed the news via Twitter.

God of War Ragnarok will be available for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Talking about figuring out which PlayStation Studios title will be released for both PS5 and PS4 or just PS5, Studios Head Herman Hulst said “Where it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5 — for Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7 — we’ll continue looking at that. And if PS4 owners want to play that game, then they can. If they want to go on and play the PS5 version, that game will be there for them. That being said, it’s also very important to have showpieces for PS5, hence the development of Returnal and Ratchet that are exclusive to PS5.”
PlayStation is set to have another big year next year. In January, God of War (2018) players can have the chance to replay as it will be available on PC on January 14. Players can also play Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on January 28. February sees the release of Horizon Forbidden West. Gran Turismo 7 is coming on March 4, 2022. The only other big game coming out for PlayStation is Forspoken.
Following these, God of War Ragnarok would be the next game. We’ll have to wait and see whether this September 2022 release date is accurate or not.
