After almost 2 years since it was released, Fast & Furious Crossroads is being delisted on all platforms by April 29th, 2022 according to the game’s website. The update announces that all product sales will end on that day, though the game will remain in your library for play if purchased beforehand.
Halting sales may lead to an eventual server shutdown, though since it has been so poorly received this franchise tie-in may not be missed. Crossroads received “generally unfavorable” reviews on all platforms according to Metacritic. On PC, the game received a score of 34/100, PS4 with a similar score of 35/100 and Xbox One with the highest at 49/100. At the time of writing this article, Crossroads has had 3,570 units sold with 3 active players in the past 24 hrs according to VG Insights.
Crossroads was developed by Slightly Mad Studios, the award-winning team behind the Project CARS franchise, and era-defining games such as the GTR series, Need for Speed Shift” and more. Their game tied into the high grossing film series with a similar description:
Gear up for an epic new chapter in the Fast & Furious saga with high-speed heists, cinematic nonstop action, and adrenaline-fueled stunts in exotic locations. Join longtime family and a tough new crew to hunt down an international crime syndicate and bring them to street justice.
Crossroads was first revealed at the Game Awards 2019 by Vin Diesel (Dominic Toretto) and Michelle Rodriguez (Letty Ortiz). “Can you believe it’s been 18 years, man? From a little article in a newspaper to a movie to a video game,” said Rodriguez. Unfortunately, the game has had reviews with issues pertaining to all departments, such as with IGN giving it a 4 out of 10 and stating that it is “short, shallow, and surprisingly simple, and it’s nothing less than a crashing disappointment in virtually every department.” There are plenty of fan-favorite cars plucked directly from the film series, though not much can be done with said cars. Overall, Crossroads spins out as a game with the potential to connect fans with the cars and onscreen family they love.
