Pokemon X and Y Nintendo Direct Brings New Information

This mornings Pokemon centric, Nintendo direct; with Mr. Iwata, Nintendo’s President, Mr. Ishihara from the Pokemon company, and Mr. Masuda from GAME FREAK inc., has announced a few new features and a new product as well. The product they are releasing is a red themed 3DS XL system and will be available on September 27th in North America and in Europe.

They also announced they are working on optional software that will be useful for Pokemon games called Pokemon Bank and Poke transporter. The Pokemon Bank system will be a cloud based storage system that will work like an expanded in game storage system. They talked about the potential to pass down your Pokemon to your children and even your grandchildren using this system. The Poke Transfer will be the way to transfer Pokemon from your copy of Black/ White or from Black 2/ White 2. Both will unfortunately not be available at launch but will be released later this year.

In addition, the professor will actually give you one of the three original starters; Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle, and those three will also have mega-evolutions. They explained a bit about how the mega-evolutions will work: there is an in game item called the the Mega Ring that the player needs to mega evolve their Pokemon, and it also seems to be tied to your friendship level with Pokemon in some way.

With the upcoming worldwide release of both Pokemon X and Pokemon Y October 12th, all the fans are clamoring for more news and counting the days.
