After nearly a decade of work, Pokemon Uranium became one of the best fan made Pokemon games. Then shortly after releasing their game to the public, Nintendo respectively asked them to stop all downloads so they stopped the downloads from coming directly from their site. However they allowed the public to continue to spread the game files and the development team continued to support the online functions of the game.
Sadly, as of today all of these online function have stopped being supported. The developers had an important message that they posted on Twitter today. The message is as follows:
After this statement, there is no indication of whether this is a personal choice or something that Nintendo is forcing them to do. Either way it is sad to see such a great game that took many years to make go down the drain. While it is unfortunate that most fan made games do not get to see the light of day, it was great to see this game for the short amount of time that it was active for. Another unfortunate turn of events from this is that the Mac release will not be released. So all the PC users got the opportunity to try out the game, but Mac users will never get the chance on their Macs.
According to GameSpot, the Uranium Twitter page was extremely active in August, but this month that activity has dropped significantly. Today’s message is the first thing posted on the Twitter page since before September 1st which talked of some bug fixes and patches to the game.
