Pokémon Sword & Shield Trailer Reveals More Gigantamax Forms

Just this morning, a new trailer dropped for the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. The trailer revealed several new Gigantamax forms as well as a few bonuses that will be rewarded to fans who bought Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee. The trailer also shows that players who purchased Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield early will get a special gift Pokémon that will be redeemable until January.

The first Pokémon that was revealed to have a Gigantamax form is the classic electric mouse Pikachu. Gigantamax Pikachu will have the same ability as regular Pikachu, static, however, it will have the new move G-Max Volt Crash which has the special effect of paralyzing all opponents. The next Pokémon revealed to have Gigantamax form is Eevee. Gigantamax Eevee will have either the ability Run Away, or Adaptability. It will also be able to use its exclusive move G-Max Cuddle which makes all opposite gendered opponents become infatuated with Gigantamax Eevee. Players will be able to acquire these Pokémon through their play records of either Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee or Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu.

Another Pokémon being given a Gigantamax form is the Fire/Flying type Pokémon Charizard. Gigantamax Charizard  can be found rarely through participation in Max Raid Battles. Gigantamax Charizard gets the G-Max Move G-Max Wildfire, which not only does massive damage to an enemy, it will also continue to hurt them for four turns so long as the opponent isn’t Fire type. It is unknown if any of the other Kanto starters will be getting Gigantamax forms at the moment. Players may also be able to catch Gigantamax Butterfree through participation in Max Raid battles as well. Gigantamax Buterfree has the G-Max Move G-Max Befuddle which can cause damage and give opponents the status of paralysis, poison, or sleep.

The last Pokémon revealed to have a Gigantamax form in the trailer is Gigantamax-Meowth. Players will be able to acquire Gigantamax Meowth as a mystery gift if they purchased Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield early. Gigantamax Meowth has the G-Max Move G-Max Gold Rush which does massive damage and boosts the amount of money players receive for winning a battle. Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be released for Nintendo Switch on November 15th and will cost $59.99.
