Pokemon Sword and Shield Reveals New Mythical Pokemon

As revealed in their Pokemon Day celebration, The Pokemon Company has revealed new Mythical Pokemon named Zarude, who will also play a large role in the upcoming Pokemon movie Coco (which is set to premiere in Japan later this year).  Not much has been revealed about Zarude other than it is a Dark/Grass-type that possesses the ability Leaf Guard. According to the Pokemon website, Zarude (also known as the Rogue Monkey Pokemon) has the ability to grow vines from its wrist, neck, and feet. These vines can be used in battle or to treat wounds as they possess healing properties.

Another detail that comes with Zarude is that it cannot be obtained by normal gameplay, which suggests that it will be released as part of a special package or event. These have yet to be confirmed as The Pokemon Company teases that “more information [is] coming soon” and

It has been reported that Zarude lives in a pack deep in the heart of dense forests. It treats anyone that isn’t part of its pack with immediate hostility, attacking right away. Because of this, other Pokémon that live in the same forest are afraid of Zarude.

In other recent Pokemon News, a new max raid event for Sword and Shield is also underway. Players are able to fight the legendary Pokemon Mewtwo in Max Raid Battles. Mewtwo is not able to be captured, but the reward for defeating them is just as great as the experience of fighting. The original three starter Pokemon (Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle) are also available for Max Raid Battles and have rare rewards for defeating them as well (such as Life Orbs and Flame Orbs).

Pokemon Sword and Shield were released for Nintendo Switch in November 2019. The game explores an all-new region and all-new Pokemon from the Galar region. Two more expansions are also set to be coming later this year as well.
