During this past Pokémon World Championship, new expansions were discussed for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. There was much revealed in the aforementioned expansion video, but one giant thing that was deliberated was the news that every single starter Pokémon in the entire history of the game is coming back. In this upcoming DLC, Pokédex will be updated to include all of the starters.
Even though several starter Pokémon during raid events and other events have added Pokémon like Charizard and Greninja, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has not seen the entire discography of starter Pokémon. As such, in the upcoming Indigo Disk DLC, every starter Pokémon will make their return to the game. The update functionality is a free process for all players and it will release later this year.
The list of Pokémon includes: Bulbasuar, Squirtle, Chikorita, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Snivy, Tepig, Litten, Popplio.
Just as in a similar update in Pokémon Sword and Shield, the new Pokémon will be able to be traded over with other players by direct trade within the game. Players can also use the Pokémon Home storage app to send over the Pokémon caught in other entires. In addition to the added entry of all the starter Pokémon, evolutions of old Pokémon like Dripplin and the new paradox Pokémon based on Raikou and and Cobalion will also be introduced into the game.
Continually, Indigo Disk and Teal Mask, which both release later this year, are made up of what will be called Hidden Treasure Of Area Zero. In this new expansion, which will consist of new Pokémon, abilities, and characters, hints at the lore behind the release of all the starter Pokémon. In other words, the release of all the starter Pokémon does not come for no reason at all. The lore will be discovered and explained when the release of that DLC comes into play.
