Pokémon Reveals Mega Audino for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

The Pokémon Company International today at Gamescom 2014 revealed the Mega-Evolved form of Audino in the form of a new trailer.

This new reveal is particularly notable, as Audino has never evolved into any other form previously. The press release describes it as such:

Before Mega Evolving, Audino is known to use the feelers on its ears to tell how others are feeling or when a Pokémon Egg might hatch. It may have either the Healer Ability or the Regenerator Ability. After Mega Evolving, Mega Audino adds Fairy type to its Normal type, automatically gaining all the advantages of Fairy type. Mega Audino always has the Healer Ability.

Mega Audino has improved Defense and Special Defense stats, making it suitable as a support unit in Double Battles. Its abilities include a emitting a radiating pulse that calms nearby enemies and reduces their level of hostility. The creature’s new feelers are also effective at putting unsuspecting foes to sleep, leaving them extremely vulnerable.

You can watch the trailer below, which depicts an ordinary Audino being reborn in its decidedly better dressed Mega form, upon which it proceeds to test out its abilities on a few enemy creatures.

Previously, images of Mega Audino and another Pokémon called Mega Slowbro appeared on the official Korean Pokémon website before being promptly removed.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are two remakes of the 2002 Gameboy Advance titles Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Both games are expected for the 3DS on November 21 in Japan, North America and Australia, and November 28 in Europe.
