Pokémon Legends: Z-A has received a substantial new update. Version 2.0.1 has rolled out now for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Packed with quality-of-life improvements, essential bug fixes, and long-requested adjustments for the Mega Dimension DLC, this patch has quickly drawn praise from players across the community.
According to the patch notes the changes in this update center on better inventory management and smoother gameplay experience. One of the most notable changes is the raise to the Mega Shard limit. Trainers can now carry up to 9,999 Mega Shards, up from the previous cap of 999.
This expansion helps ease the grind for rare Mega Stones and various upgrades that depend on these shards. Having this change was substantial to obtaining Genesect in the game. To get the Mythical Pokémon Genesect you would have to buy four “Drives” from an NPC, however each “Drive” would cost 540 Mega Shards. With the cap originally set at 999 players were only able to purchase one at a time making the grind to obtain this Pokemon quite time consuming.
Players can now buy multiple Berries at once from food stalls, cutting down the need for repetitive transactions when stocking up. After unlocking the Mega Dimension DLC story, Berries can also be purchased from the clerk at Nouveau Café’s Truck No. 3.
The update also tackles a series of technical problems players encountered in the Mega Dimension expansion. Pokémon in certain hyperspace fights would sometimes face the wrong direction during moves has been fixed. Weather effects that previously got stuck on “sunny” now update properly. Shiny Pokémon obtained before the DLC’s launch now correctly register in the Mega Evolution Pokédex after acquiring their Mega Stones as well as visual glitches showing unrelated images during missions have been corrected. A block in the side mission 188 – “Start Special Scanning!” caused by exceeding investigation point limits has been addressed, allowing players to progress as intended.
Version 2.0.1 ensures smoother core gameplay and better progression, especially for players engaging deeply with the Mega Dimension content. The update is also essential for accessing online features and play with others, as older game versions become incompatible with ongoing online seasons. As Pokémon Legends: Z-A continues to evolve post-launch, this patch represents a major step toward polishing the experience players have been seeking.
