Pokemon GO and Ingress players may be excited to hear the newest statement by Niantic Inc., revealing more on its much anticipated mobile game, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The team recently announced, via their official blog site, that “From now until April 30th, Ingress Agents and Pokemon GO Trainers will have the ability to secure their Agent Name or Trainer Nickname to use in the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.” Those who wish to secure their code names ahead of release can do so by visiting the Code Name Reservation Page.
Note that this opportunity is only for players wishing to use their already existing Pokemon GO or Ingress names for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. This option does not allow for the reservation of brand new code names. Users that wish to create a different name will have to wait until the game launches in their region.
The Niantic Team also warns that reservation of your code name is not a guarantee. The program works on a first come, first served basis. This applies to all players of both Pokemon GO and Ingress. If your Pokemon GO username overlaps with another player’s username, even someone from Ingress, the player who registered the name first will claim the use of the code name for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. However, players with usernames that are identical for both of their Pokemon Go and Ingress accounts will only need to reserve their names once, given that the name is not already taken.
Pre-registration for the game is available on the Google Play Store. This pre-registration allows users to receive a notification when the game is available for download. Some have also noticed the small message above the pre-register button on the site. The message reads, “If you pre-register, we may invite you to the early access program for this game.” Even though a beta or testing version of the game has yet to been officially announced, the possibility may be enough incentive for eager fans to sign up for pre-registration.
An official release date has yet to be announced, however, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is predicted to see a launch this summer, according to an interview with Warner Bros. CEO, Kevin Tsujihara. We can expect more specifics about gameplay and release dates to surface in the coming months. Be sure to check out the game’s official website for more information. Code name registration will be available until 11:59 pm P.T. on April 30th. The game will be available for Android and iOS mobile devices.
