Pokemon Go Holds Final Team Rocket Event

As Team Rocket made their debut on Pokemon Gat the beginning of the summer, Niantic has announced that they are set to leave the game on September 30th. Even with the popular Pokemon foes blasting off for good (for the time being at least), Pokemon Go is holding one last event to celebrate the time of the fan-favorite team.

Starting today (September 22nd, 2022) at 12 PM local time, Jessie and James will start to appear more in Pokemon Go than usual, giving players more opportunities to battle them and rescue the Shadow Pokemon (Ekans and Koffing). The Team Rocket event is set to end at 11:59 PM local time on September 30th. As opposed to other Team Rocket Grunts that usually appear out of nowhere, Jessie and James are easily spottable from their signature Meowth hot air balloon that flies over the map.

Players that want to share both their findings and their winnings with Team Rocket are encouraged to share pictures on any social media app, tagging official Pokemon Go accounts and using the hashtag “#TeamGORocket”.

At the same time as the Team Rocket event, Pokemon Go also has another lineup of events for the remaining days of September. Mega September, which would be considered the biggest out of all the events, is a new event revolving around Mega Evolutions and players building a better relationship with their mega evolved Pokemon. As week 3 of Mega September has already begun, trainers are encouraged to complete the set of challenges set before them and bring up their friendship levels with the Pokemon of their choosing. Niantic has also announced that they will be changes to the Mega Evolution system, which should allow for easier ways to collect Mega Energy.

Lastly, the appearances of the legendary Pokemon Articuno will also be starting to dwindle in the coming days. As the bird Pokemon made appearances in five-star Raids, that is set to come to an end on September 25th. After the 25th, however, Articuno will be replaced with Zapados an announced release time.
