Pokémon GO Begins Valentine’s Day Event

Pokémon GO has created a tradition of having events during holiday seasons. Currently, the game’s Valentine’s Day event is underway, having started yesterday (February 7) and continuing through February 15.

For one thing, pink Pokémon will have increased spawn rates during this event. That means Pokémon like Jigglypuff, Chansey, Clefable and others will be able to be encountered more frequently. Chansey, in particular, tends to be harder to find, so this event could be good for those still missing this Pokémon from their Pokédexes. Another aspect of this event is the extension of Lure Module time periods. A Lure Module, for anyone who doesn’t know, is an item in the game that attracts wild Pokémon to the player, making more spawn than usual around the player. Usually, Lure Modules last for thirty minutes, but during this event Lure Modules will last six hours, twelve times the normal length of the item.

Lastly, the event will allow players to receive twice as much candy as they normally would. Candy is an item used in the game to power up and evolve Pokémon, with each species of Pokémon having their own kind of Candy. Players can find Candy by catching Pokémon or by hatching Pokémon eggs. Players can also get Candy by walking with their Buddy Pokémon, and during this event Buddy Pokémon will find Candy twice as often as they would normally.

Pokémon GO is a free-to-play mobile game available for iOS and Android devices. It is expected that the second generation of Pokémon will be added to the game soon.
