Gorgeous looking first person puzzle game Pneuma: Breath of Life is getting ready to make Xbox One owners think in January 2015.
Deco Digital and Bevel Studios are looking to make a name for themselves early next year with the release of their new game Pneuma: Breath of Life. The game is coming to Xbox One via the digital marketplace in January 2015, and though there are currently no hard plans made for any other platform releases for the game, both studios are hoping the puzzle game can achieve success.
Pneuma: Breath of Life has several things going for it. The first, and most obvious, is the graphics tech powering the game. Deco Digital proudly proclaims Pneuma to be the first game powered by Unreal Engine 4, and if the screenshots and (criminally short) trailer video are anything to go by, that power is most definitely far from wasted.
The game is definitely gorgeous, but on top of that the game just sounds interesting. Details are really quite scarce on what exactly the gameplay will consist of. The title is being advertised as a “first person puzzler,” but decoding exactly what that entails is no small task, since that genre can include everything from Portal to Myst, all the way down to your grandma’s favorite point n’ click adventure. Information from the developer suggests the title will lean more of the Myst route, which would be a wonderful thing, since true mind-bending reasoning puzzles are something of a rarity in the current game market.
Play as a god, ‘Pneuma’, and listen to his comical self-obsessed inner monologue whilst he takes you on a journey exploring and traversing his puzzling world. Rack your brain and progress through a series of environmental challenges that require perception, observation, and lateral thinking skills to succeed. Lift bridges, rotate platforms and unlock gigantic doors all with the power of your mind. This game isn’t about your skill with a controller, it’s about how you perceive and analyse situations.
Push your brain to its limits in this exciting new first person puzzler as Pneuma contemplates the nature of reality and you explore the ontological mystery of the Breath of Life.
With so little to go on, for the moment the most intriguing puzzle Pneuma: Breath of Life has to offer is perhaps the question of what, exactly, the game will be. Despite that mystery — or possibly because of it — Pneuma: Breath of Life looks to be an intriguing, enigmatic title to keep your eyes on between now and January.
