Playstation Theater Plans Revealed

Sony will have a huge presence in New York in the coming year with the recent announcement of the Playstation Theater right in the heart of Times Square.

Sony Computer Entertainment VP of Platforms Marketing John Keller made the announcement on the official Playstation blog.

“I’m excited by the PlayStation Theater initiative because it allows us to marry our tremendous brand momentum with an amazing venue right in the heart of Times Square.”

The Playstation Theater is listed at 45,000-square feet with an impressive 2,150-capacity. The theater has been a host to many iconic artists like The Eagles and Bon Jovi as well as hosting events such as Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve.

Plans for the venue include to stream live performances to the Playstation Network as well as show off the latest in the line of Playstation products.

The venue, built in 2005, was originally the Nokia Theatre and later changed to the Best Buy Theater. Sony and AEG Live recently reached a deal for the name change. A total rebranding of interior and exterior signage is in the works.
