The next PlayStation State of Play event will be happening very shortly, as Sony announced the showcase’s return for tomorrow, May 30. The event was revealed in a post on the PlayStation Blog this morning, giving just over 24 hours notice before the start of the livestream. State of Play events are prone to surprise announcements, but the team at Sony has confirmed some details on what we can expect to see tomorrow.
The stream will feature “updates on PS5 and PS VR2 titles”, possibly meaning the announcements of patches, updates, or DLC for already released PlayStation games. The State of Play will also feature “a look at PlayStation Studios games arriving later this year”, providing new trailers or possibly new game announcements on upcoming titles. There will be a total of 14 games featured in the showcase, which is set for a runtime of over 30 minutes. The show begins at 3pm PT / 6pm ET, and will be available to stream on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok on the official PlayStation accounts for each social media platform.
The surprise State of Play event is now set to kick off an exciting month of gaming news, as the arrival of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest draws near. State of Play is now listed as an official partner of Summer Games Fest, and is the first livestream scheduled in their annual coverage for the year. The festival of showcases is also set to include presentations from Devolver Digital, Xbox Studios, the PC Gaming Show, and more. The full schedule of streams can be found on the SGF website here. There are also a number of showcases happening outside of the Summer Games Fest umbrella, with a Silent Hill showcase scheduled for tomorrow night. PlayStation is currently holding its annual Days of Play celebration, which features discounts on hardware, games, and subscriptions as well as more surprises for PlayStation users. More details on the Days of Play offerings can be found here.
