Hogwarts Legacy promises to give players an immersive experience within the Wizarding World, and with the help of exclusive PS5 features, Avalanche Software can make those promises a reality.
On Tuesday, May 24, a Playstation Blog post introduced exclusive features for Hogwarts Legacy with the DuelSense Wireless controller. Players will feel more attuned to their character’s spellcasting due to haptic feedback between the DualSense controller and the character’s wand. DuelSense adaptive triggers allow for more flexibility in combat with unique sounds and vibrations between swapping spells, as well as conveying the devastating strength of more powerful spells.
These new features don’t just improve player combat experience, they bleed into the countless other interactions players have within the in-game world. According to Avalanche, the DualSense controller lets players feel simple tasks like crushing ingredients in Potions class, feeling the screech of a Mandrake seedling, or flying through the skies on a broom or a hippogriff.
Avalanche has also incorporated the DualSense controller’s light as additional personalization and customization to the player character. The blog post elaborates that “The DualSense controller lights will “pulse with the colors of your Hogwarts house: blue and bronze for Ravenclaw, scarlet and gold for Gryffindor, green and silver for Slytherin, and yellow and black for Hufflepuff.” Outside of controller features, the PS5 boasts Tempest 3D Audio Tech, creating the illusion of sound moving around the player. This tech seeks to immerse the player within the game world, especially if one were to play with headsets.
Hogwarts Legacy on PS5, with its immersive controller features, higher frame rate, and Performance graphics modes, will allow the player to craft an experience unique to only them. With the amount of detail, Avalanche Software has put into crafting the perfect player experience, Hogwarts Legacy is building up to be a game fulfilling the childhood wishes of Harry Potter fans everywhere.
