PlayStation Celebrates 30th Anniversary With New Thank You Video, Limited-Time Customizable Themes

As PlayStation celebrates its 30th anniversary, the company has revealed something special for its players. First, they released a special ‘Thank You’ video featuring a variety of characters from throughout the history of PlayStation. Secondly, a new update lets players change parts of the PlayStation 5’s design based on the company’s past console generations for a limited time.

The description reads: “For the past three decades, we’ve shared an incredible journey, building stories and shaping experiences together. Along the way, we’ve found adventure, laughter, and lasting memories that go far beyond any one moment. We’ve forged friendships and refined what gaming is all about. Thank you for being part of this journey – we couldn’t have done it without you.”

With the limited-time themes, players will be able to customize some of the visual and audio features of all of the PlayStation console generations so players can select from PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, and a special 30th-anniversary theme.

“For a limited time, you can change parts of the PS5 design based on your favorite generation of PlayStation,” Sony said. “Select a design to apply to your home screen and other areas.”

Needless to say, the addition of themes, even for a limited time, has fans wanting them to stay with many online pleading for Sony to keep them.

A user on ResetEra wrote “I want every single PS5 owner to use this feature so that Sony realizes that this is something people actually want on PS5 and not keep as a limited time thing.”

“They better go back on this limited time nonsense because this is what we’ve been waiting years for,” says another ResetEra user. “I’m so happy, but this can’t just be a limited time thing.”

“This is literally criminal because it’s limited time only,” said a Reddit user. “Please make it permanent.”
