Fans of card games and stealth games can rejoice in that there is a card based stealth game, called Card Thief. You obviously play the game as a thief and you have to navigate through a dungeon created from a deck of cards. You have to avoid guards, steal treasure and get out with a chest containing insignias that allow you to buy gears and access new levels.
The main focus of Card Thief is to maintain your stealth points so you can move successfully throughout the dungeon. Both your thief and the obstacles in your way have a certain amount of points. Point values can be raised, especially enemy points if being illuminated by light. If your enemy has more points than you and spots you, you are captured and you fail the level. If you play your cards right, pun intended, you can extinguish torches, ambush guards from behind and regain your own stealth points with the help of sneak cards and hiding.
You’re going to need those stealth points in order to carry the chest and the longer the chest is on the field, the more the points of the chest itself are going to increase. Luckily the game allows you to plan your steps in advance so that you can reach that chest as quick as possible.
You have a variety of tools to help you out. There are water arrows to extinguish torches, a cloak that replenishes stealth points and different kinds of potions that can lower enemy levels. Those tools have their own power levels, so they can only be used on something the tool’s level or below.
You can see what the game looks like, with some of the cards in play in the following image.
Card Thief is only available for iOS and costs $1.99.
