PopCap Games’ third-person multiplayer shooter Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will be getting a fresh batch of DLC free of charge today in the form of a new map, new mode, and new characters.
Titled the Tactical Taco Party Pack, the DLC will be available for Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC players. The new map, titled Jewel Junction, has a Western theme and most notably features a train that travels across the center of the map intermittently, plowing through anyone unfortunate enough to be in its path. Many Easter Eggs are also hidden throughout the map for alert players to notice.
A new mode will also be added, called Vanquish Confirmed. In this mode, kills only count if players pick up the orb that defeated players drop upon death, which forces players to consider whether it’s worth risking their necks to venture towards an enemy’s corpse to secure a point for the time. This mode will be exclusive to Xbox systems for a week, upon which it will also be available for the PC on July 8.
The two new characters added in the TTPP include the Citrus Cactus, which fires orange wedges in three round bursts, and the Berry Shooter, which has a slow rate of fire, but higher than normal splash damage. These characters are sponsored by bottled water company Aquafina.
Other small improvements include eight new special waves in the wave-based Garden Ops mode, a mixed mode 8 vs. 8 playlist for Team Vanquish, Vanquish Confirmed, Gnome Bomb and Gardens and Graveyards modes, and an overhaul of the game’s party matchmaking system to make things more streamlined.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare was released on Xbox systems on February 2014, but was later made available for the PC last week. A PlayStation 3 and 4 version will be released on August 19 and 21 in North America and Europe respectively.
