PlanetSide Arena Receives Another Delay

Developer Daybreak Games has announced that their MMO shooter with huge 250 vs 250 team deathmatch and Battle Royale mode has been delayed yet again. Planetside Arena was first revealed at the tail end of last year. It was initially slated to release late last month on Steam but the developer decided to delay the game until March because the developers still wanted to work on “crucial feature enhancements and core systems improvements.”
After a closed beta, Daybreak decided to delay the game once more until this summer. “After much consideration, we’ve decided to postpone the current PC-only release date and launch simultaneously across PC and PlayStation 4 this summer.” The developer didn’t give a direct reason for the cancellation they only commented that “We believe that delivering the most polished version of PlanetSide Arena that meets these expectations, on both platforms, outweighs any other consideration.”
Because of the cancelation Daybreak will be refunding all preorders for the PC version of the game and canceled the pre launch access period dubbed the “Founders Season. ”In light of our revised launch plan, we are refunding all Planetside Arena pre-orders. We’re committed to continuing and expanding our Beta testing program as we ramp-up for our multi-platform launch this Summer and will share more details soon.”
Based off this statement players can expect more from up and coming beta opportunities for the game. Now that Daybreak has a bit of time before the simultaneous release of the game both for the PlayStation 4 and PC they might have a couple chances for those interested to try the game out before it’s full launch. Many speculate that the unexpected release and success of Respawn’s Apex Legends was another factor that weighed in on the game’s delay even though there is no mention of this within Daybreak’s statement on the matter.
