One of the most amazing things about the gaming community is the phenomenon where a seemingly random game is teased or released and the community collectively loses their mind over it, even if it’s a game that no one ever asked for. The type of game that makes you ask, “Why?” This is immediately followed by the game becoming viral, and countless hours lost to the game; every gamer has done it at some point. One such game has been teased recently by Jon McKellan, the founder and Creative Director of No Code Studio, the studio that gave the world Stories Untold as well as the upcoming Observation. Though McKellan seems to be taking a break from psychological horror in lieu of pigeons for this one.
According to his Twitter, McKellen has been working on a fighting game starring none other than New York City’s feathered rat. The game, comically called Pekken, has been teased in a Tweet, and McKellan seems genuinely surprised by the positive reactions on the social media site. After the initial post picked up steam, McKellan posted a follow up promising to fully make and release the game if the Tweet reached 10,000 retweets, after Observation drops that is.
Get this tweet to 10k RTs and we will make Pekken after Observation drops. That’s a promise.

What most likely started as a joke has quickly snowballed into a full-fledged project, with Devolver Digital, the publisher for both Untold Stories and Observation, unwittingly (or unknowingly) throwing their hat into the ring. McKellan has even leaned into the joke enough to change his Twitter bio to mention Pekken.
1002 RTs and you have to publish it uh oh

Since throwing money at the computer screen doesn’t seem to be loading up Pekken at the moment, all that can be done is retweet the video and hope that 10,000 people want an obscure game about fighting pigeons (but who wouldn’t, right?) While the timetable on Pekken‘s release is still hazy at best, Observation is slated for release in the spring of this year on PC and PS4.
