Pickmos Removed From Steam Due to Publisher Interference

Pickmos, formally known as Pickmon, a controversial game due to its trailer, has been officially removed from Steam. The reason for its removal is due to the publisher of the game, Networkgo. They posted a tweet on X stating that they have heard the players’ feedback and plan to monitor the team of Pickmos and PocketGame in order to improve the game and move away from the controversy. It honestly doesn’t come as much of a surprise for most players that the game was removed. Many speculated it would have been removed due to the trailer showing off the game and how the game looked to be shamelessly imitating other games, such as Pokémon, Palworld, and many others.

On top of tweet made by Networkgo, the developer of the game Pocketgame, also responded with their own message stating that “We are revising the game to ensure a controversy-free experience. It will be re-released once our publisher gives the final approval.” With this message, it is now assumed that Networkgo has creative control over the game and will have a say in the final product. It also seems like most of the blame for the game’s controversy falls on PocketGame, and the publisher is trying to save face, or something else is happening behind the scenes. Either way, we will have to wait to hear more about it.

Pickmons‘ trailer was released back on May 12, 2026, and it quickly caught fire for the gameplay that was shown, as it was heavily imitating many games. Many were questioning if it was all satire, as it took a lot from big games that are notorious for suing, like Pokémon. And then, only a month later, the game has a name change as it goes from Pickmon to Pickmos because they want the name to align with their brand identity and lore. Now we are here, and the game has been officially removed, and there isn’t much known when it will come back and in what shape, as that game looked to be far along in its development, but now they are going back and changing it in order for it not to look so much like an imitation of other games.

Jorge Peredo: Growing up, I've always been fascinated by storytelling, whether through reading, watching, or playing video games. Having been exposed to storytelling for so long, I have been influenced, and through that influence, I seek to write and create my own stories that others can enjoy and that I can be proud of.
