Publisher Prime Matter and developer Snapshot Games is bringing the 2019 strategy game, Phoenix Point, to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 1, but with a new rendition, Phoenix Point: Behemoth Edition. The console release will include the three previously released DLC packs, the new DLC4, and an updated UI. Controls in this game will also receive a huge redesign in order to optimize play for the console edition. Additionally, a DLC weapons pack as well as a free update for the next-generation consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will be coming after the Phoenix Point: Behemoth Edition launch. Existing PC owners won’t be left out on October 1 as they can expect to get the DLC4, “Corrupted Horizons,” on the console-version release date.
Phoenix Point: Behemoth Edition will include the base game, plus four downloadable content expansions titled, “Blood and Titanium,” “Legacy of the Ancients,” “Festering Skies,” and “Corrupted Horizons.” For those unfamiliar with the Phoenix Point series, here is a rundown of its gameplay:
Earth has been overrun by mutating aliens, posing a threat to the last remnants of mankind. Only the “Phoenix Project,” a secret organization of soldiers, can work together to fight the aliens while trying to restore mankind. During your mission as a soldier within the Phoenix Project, your crew will be looking at you for guidance and reassurance. You must lead your team, conduct research, develop new technologies, explore a desolate Earth, build bases, manage resources, and prepare your soldiers for battle. With a complex narrative that contains multiple endings unlocked through various playthroughs, think carefully of how you will deal with aliens who adapt to your tactics and the other organizations trying to reclaim Earth.
The first game in the series Phoenix Point launched in 2019 for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Its Year-One Edition followed in 2020, which included new downloadable content and updates. Now, the console version will succeed these installments–promising fans that an array of bonus content will be available in the series third game.
